New 2021 Trucks That Belong on Your Wishlist

If you’re currently on the hunt for a new truck, 2021 is the place to be. With several exciting new options set to hit the market soon (or they just became available), you won’t run out of potential choices to take your game to the next level.

These aren’t the trucks you’re used to, though. Whether they’ve been reimagined from the ground up, are new to the market, or are putting a new twist on a classic, they all bring something unique to the table that makes them well worth discovering.

Trucks to Keep an Eye On in 2021

Below is an alphabetical list of trucks that have already released or are set to be released sometime this year. They range from budget-friendly pickups to high-tech beasts that will make you the envy of your neighborhood.

Chevy Colorado

One of the cheaper options currently on the market (starting at $25,200 MSRP), the 2021 Chevy Colorado is the perfect match for those looking to own a truck without breaking the bank or needing a new garage. Offering three powertrain variants (including a diesel option), terrific handling, and considerable towing capabilities, it’s safe to say it can tackle just about any job. It is a bit lacking in the technology department, but makes up for it with a comfortable ride, a solid range of trim levels and a redesigned exterior.

Ford F-150

Next up is the redesigned Ford F-150, which starts at a still-reasonable $28,940 MSRP. The price, however, ranges drastically considering there are six trim levels, including the top-of-the-line Limited that starts at $72,520 MSRP. Several powertrain options are available (including a hybrid), and yet even the most powerful of them still gets surprisingly strong gas mileage. The F-150 comes equipped with a standard 8” infotainment display, plenty of tech and safety features, and an unexpectedly upscale interior that makes your daily drive more enjoyable than it probably should be.

The 2021 Ford F-150 is available now, but one thing to note: an all-electric version is set to become available sometime next year.

Hummer EV Truck

The first of the pricier trucks on this list (starting at $79,995 MSRP), the 2022 Hummer EV Truck will certainly turn heads when it hits showroom floors in fall of 2021. Once known for its gas guzzlers, Hummer is set to release an eco-friendly truck that could raise the stakes for competitors. Don’t be fooled, though — Hummer certainly delivers with this one. The EV Truck features a drivetrain option producing more than 1,000 horsepower, a diagonal four-wheel drive mode that’ll upgrade your off-roading game, an estimated range of 350 miles per charge, and removable roof panels. One thing is crystal clear: this isn’t the same ol’ Hummer.

Hyundai Santa Cruz

The latest “budget” entrant into the battle for truck supremacy is the 2021 Hyundai Santa Cruz, which is estimated to start around $25,000 MSRP. Not much is known beyond the fact that this is Hyundai’s first venture into the truck space and that it should start rolling off production lines sometime later this year. We won’t speculate on specs, but the exterior shots currently available show a sleek, modern truck that is sure to attract drivers who are tired of the status quo.

Jeep Gladiator

Jeep is known for its versatility and customization, and it certainly hits the mark again with the 2021 Gladiator — there are 11 trim levels! The first truck produced by Jeep since the 1990s, the Gladiator excels at going off-road, as all Jeeps do. It’s not the most maneuverable truck and isn’t great on fuel economy, but it wins with numerous body configurations, a comfortable, modern interior, plenty of optional driver-assist technologies and the same Jeep feel that’s earned the brand a cult following over the years. It’s available now, so no need to wait if you’re ready to grab the latest piece of innovation from Jeep.

Ram Dakota

It’s been a decade since Dodge released the Ram Dakota. Now, the mid-size truck is set to make its triumphant return to the road, as Dodge is planning on releasing the new 2021 Ram Dakota later this year. It’ll be a smaller, cheaper (estimated to start at $26,000) version of the Ram 1500. Not many details are currently known, so there’s little information to pass along. However, if you’re looking for a cost-efficient alternative to the Ram 1500, the Dakota may be the perfect solution.

Ram TRX

When they say “go big or go home,” they’re likely talking about the 2021 Ram TRX, featuring Dodge’s monstrous Hellcat engine. The all-new off-road-focused Ram TRX was Dodge’s answer to Ford’s Raptor, and they nailed it. With staggering speed and agility for its size, a relatively luxurious interior, and all of the technology you’d expect in a modern truck (including a heads-up display), the TRX is essentially the complete package. It will cost you a pretty penny with a starting price of $71,790 MSRP and won’t save you any trips to the pump, but it packs as much power, aggression and versatility into a truck than seems reasonable.
